The shankh or conch shell has, for centuries, been a sound of beginnings, its call said to clear negativity and invite prosperity. The Neelkamal Genie Shank draws on this auspicious form, reinterpreted in Jaipur’s iconic blue pottery. This craft, born from a marriage of Persian glazing traditions and Rajasthani artistry, uses no clay at all, instead, quartz powder, glass, multani mitti, and natural gum are shaped in a blend of wheel-turned and moulded forms. The piece is hand-coated in a smooth white slip, painted with freehand lotus blooms, and fired at low temperatures to lock in the turquoise–indigo brilliance. More than a vase, it is a cultural emblem perfect for temple corners, entry consoles, or as a centrepiece holding pampas or twisted willow stems, carrying with it both grace and heritage.
